Dear Founders,
I’m writing to you from a speeding bullet train, heading up the Atlantic coastline of Morocco from Casablanca to Tanger (they don’t spell it with an “i” here) at max speed of 320 km per hour. That’s 199 mph for the 5% of the world who refuses the metric system. And it’s faster than the Shinkansen bullet trains I took up and down Japan last year.
There’s something about trains. I can’t put my finger on it. But I know I’m not the only one who feels a train ride makes any trip more interesting, and more memorable.
Al Boraq is the high-speed rail option in Morocco. The initial line is Casablanca-Rabat-Tanger. You can take a slow train that stops in every desert outpost, but faster is better. They’ll later extend the speeding Al Boraq south to Marrakesh.
